Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt, represented by the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA), has won the bid to host the 51st Annual Conference of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) for the 2026-2028 period.
Islam Azzam will serve as Vice-Chair of the IOSCO board for the next two years, boosting Egypt's position within the global financial markets decision-making system.
The head of the authority affirmed that Egypt’s election to chair the committee reflects the members' confidence in the country’s experience in financial oversight.
He added that member states will expand cooperation and exchange expertise to drive development of efficient financial markets capable of withstanding global fluctuations and challenges.
The Emerging Markets Committee is the largest committee within the IOSCO, representing more than 75% of its members. It comprises dozens of regulatory bodies from the world's fastest-growing economies, which play a key role in setting regulatory standards and providing technical support and training programs to member countries.
Under Egypt's presidency, the coming period is expected to witness a greater push for initiatives to develop capital markets in developing countries and enhance coordination among regulatory bodies.
This will support the stability of the global financial system and contribute to achieving more inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
